People's Credit Union is proud to help award our 8th Grade Scholarship and the Credit Union Association of Rhode Island Scholarship to deserving students looking to further their education.

People's Credit Union 8th Grade Scholarship

People’s Credit Union will award one scholarship in the amount of $500 in each city/town we have an branch location.  The scholarship will be increased beginning in the 9th through 12th grade based on the following information from the year end report card:

  • We will increase the scholarship by $50 for every final grade that is an A or 5, whichever grading system the school uses.
  • We will increase the scholarship by $25 for every final grade that is a B or 4, whichever grading system the school uses.
  • The total scholarship can not exceed $1,000.
  • Scholarship recipient is responsible for providing the Credit Union with original year end report card.
Eligible Applicants Must:

  • Be a graduating student of the 8th grade.
  • Be considering attending a college, university, or vocational school, upon graduation from high school.  Scholarship will be paid upon proof of acceptance and enrollment in post high school educational facility.
  • Complete a People’s Credit Union scholarship application and essay.
Applications will be available through local middle school guidance counselor offices or at any local branch of the People’s Credit Union. You can also click here download an application. The completed application and attachments should be submitted to:

Submissions should be received NO LATER THAN MONDAY, APRIL 30th, 2010.  Applications may also be dropped off at any branch location. Awards will be presented at a date to be determined.

Credit Union Association of Rhode Island Scholarship

Credit Union Association of Rhode Island (CUARI) will be awarding eight $500 college scholarships this year to full-time students currently enrolled in or accepted to a college or university undergraduate program for the 2010 school year. Students who are a member of People’s Credit Union or whose parent(s) or guardian are a member are eligible.

To apply:

1. The applicant must be a full-time student currently enrolled in or accepted to a college/university undergraduate program for the 2010 school year. 

2. The applicant or parent/guardian must be a member of People’s Credit Union.

3. Students must submit:

  • A completed CUARI Scholarship Application Form,
  • A typewritten essay, no more than one page in length(double-spaced), which identifies their major field of study and how it will apply to their career goals, and
  • A comprehensive high school or college transcript.  Collegefreshmen must submit their high school transcript(s) along with their college transcript(s).
